As 2020 ends, I hope we can all look back and find the peace that was there for each of us. I hope we have taken a moment to put aside all the turmoil that has been involved with this last year. The turmoil that has hit each of us in some way. Whether it was through the pandemic, politics, rioting, or just uneasiness about all that was going on around us, it has touched us all. But if we take a moment, stop, and listen, if we hear what is in our hearts, our inner selves, we will find a peace hidden somewhere. Maybe some of you have found it.
As I looked for my peace through the confusion, I kept seeing God. He is bigger than my minuscule existence. He has more mercy than everyone I have ever known put all together, and more forgiveness than I deserve or am worthy of. Yet He forgave me, and He has mercy for me daily. To Him, I am an important person, I am someone He wants to know. He loves me with a love I can only hope to have and share. And He gives His peace, through His Spirit, to me and to you. He reaches into our hearts and waits for us there to answer, to accept, and then to receive this peace that only He can give but that we all need at some time or another. Again, I hope we are all looking.
If you have not found that peace, that ability to sit down, sigh with relief, and think everything is going to be ok, I encourage you to keep looking in 2021. I will be praying for you.
Romans 15:13 ESV, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Thank you, God, for your guidance through 2020 and your peace and love you want to give us all. God bless 2021.
