What is a testimony? A testimony is an explanation and affirmation of our faith in God through Jesus, His son. It explains our lives before and after that moment of prayer calling to Jesus and explains that moment of prayer when we ask for forgiveness. It is our tribute, proof, our recommendation of God. We all have a testimony if we are believers. It is our story from God in just the way He wanted us to have it. He also wants us to share it. Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” We are to go, share, and even teach and since God is with us, we should not fear.
Psalm 22:22, “I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you.” We are to tell of God and praise Him. To praise is to say good things or show reverence about someone or something. So once we have our story, our testimony, and Jesus in our hearts, we should want to tell others. You might have just the right words for the person listening to really hear and understand. You might begin the “lightbulb going on,” the “oh, I get it,” the very thing needed to spark their interest! YOU, with your story!
So how do we make disciples? How do we help someone to follow God? How do we help in God’s commands for our lives? How do we praise Him? One way is to share our testimony! We have to share for others to know, hear and learn about God. Yes, they do see God’s love in our lives, or at least I hope and pray this, but God says to share. That person that needs a spark may not get it if you don’t share. Mark 16:15, And He said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Jesus said this after His resurrection. As hard as Jesus worked and as much as He gave for me, how can I not try to do the same for Him? I hope and pray you will too.
God puts a song of praise in our hearts when we become believers, does He not? Never stop the singing, the heart dries up!
